Shop Forum Rules
Welcome to the shops part of the forum, where members are able to create shops and fill out art requests for other members! This thread will help you understand how to interact within this thread and how to run a shop.
Shops require moderator approval
When you first create a shop you will not be able to see the thread, it will be in a place where moderators can review it and decide if the shop is acceptable. Once they decide it is acceptable they will approve it and your shop will be viewable by everyone and people will then be able to post on your thread.
Keep a draft of your shop
If a moderator finds that your shop is unable to be accepted then you will want to keep a draft of what your shop looked like and change it with the feedback a moderator will PM you with. A moderator will delete your original shop if it is not accepted, requiring you to post the thread once again with the changes for a moderator to review once more.
If you do not save a copy of the thread a moderator will not give you a copy, it is your responsibility to do so.
You are not allowed to have multiple people working in your shop
Your shop is yours only, do not have any "side shops" or such in which multiple people are filling requests within your shop. This can lead to confusion and very cluttered shop pages. If you want to have a shop then make your own please, and if you really need someone to be completing your requests because you don't have the time then perhaps it's time for you to get a staff member to lock your shop until you're able to take care of it again.
What's expected in your shop
Make sure you have the ability to run your shop
While it may be a fun and novel idea to own a shop there are two things you must make sure that you're able to do in order to run a shop.
You have the spriting skills to produce artwork for others.
You have the time to commit to your shop, and remain active.
You must have specific things within your shop in order for it to be accepted
A list of what you are offering: For example, recolouring, fusing, banners, etc.
Samples/examples of your work: Which are relevant to what you are offering.
Forms: So people know how to order.
Create rules for your shop: How many requests are allowed to be waiting in the queue at one time? How many requests can each member make? Do you require credit?
Expected behavior of shop owners
This section has behaviors expected of shop owners that can differ from behaviors in other sections of the forum.
Do not skip orders
By opening a shop and accepting an order you are making a promise to the requester that you will complete their order. If you cannot complete an order you should give full information to the requester on why you cannot complete their order. Don't just not do an order because you don't want to do it or you're feeling lazy.
Fulfill all orders in your shop
This can fall under the last rule, except it's a bit different. By opening a shop you are saying that you are willing to accept any orders which follow the shop rules that you've set out. Don't refuse to do an order just because you don't like a person or you don't feel like doing the order at the time. Again, you accepted that these situations will arise when you decided to open a shop.
PM staff to lock the shop if you need to catch up on orders temporarily or permanent closing
If you are swamped with orders or people continue ordering even after your wait list is filled feel free to PM a member of the staff to lock your shop, include a link to your shop when you request however. Try to give them as little work as possible, they don't want to have to search through the shop section just to find your shop.
You can also PM staff to request that your shop be permanently locked if you feel that you can no longer maintain a shop.
Keep your shop active
If a shop has not been posted in for thirty days it will be locked. After that you will need to create a new shop. This is because shop owners can go inactive and leave their shop open, confusing people who think the shop is still open and make a request that never is fulfilled.
Expected behavior of shop requesters
Just like shop owners are expected to have certain behaviors to fulfill, those who are requesting from shops are expected to follow certain behaviors as well.
Be patient with the owner, do not nag them about your request
Give the shop owner time in which to complete your request, remember that they have a life just like you do. They may only have a certain amount of time a day in which to do artwork things, and sometimes they may prefer to spend that time doing other things. Give them reasonable time to complete the order, and if you feel that your order might have been forgotten send them a PM politely asking if they're still able to do the order or not.
Follow the owner's rules
Each shop owner has the right to create their own shop rules, therefore you are to follow the shopkeeper's rules. Make sure you read them before requesting. Sometimes they may have secret passwords in their shop that require you to order in a certain way, which may not be listed in their form just to make sure that you read their rules, and if they do make sure to put those into your request and do not be irritated if they require you to re-read the rules to follow this password.
Report things that break the rules
If you find someone is breaking the rules simply report them, do not instead post on the thread or send the person a PM telling them what they've done. They may get angry or feel hurt that you're scolding them, instead let the staff team deal with what's going on.
Post a filled request in the thread as well as PM to requester
Sometimes someone may not remember they've requested something, therefore they don't visit the shop again to see the order you've filled. Remind them subtly by sending them a PM with their filled request along with posting the filled request in your shop thread.
If you have any questions about these rules or additional suggestions for rules please PM one of the staff so we can know what you're thinking.
